THE VALUATION CORP. CONDUCTS EQUIPMENT VALUATIONS IN MOSCOW, RUSSIA, AND OTHER RUSSIAN REGIONS

When valuing machinery, equipment and vehicles it is very important to precisely identify the property to be valued. The number of property items valued at one enterprise can often reach several thousand units of various equipment with different functions, designs and characteristics. In the process of valuation, equipment is usually divided into the following groups: in-line; auxiliary; transport; office (computer hardware, communication facilities, production and business inventory, furniture). Such grouping has a positive effect on the valuation accuracy, because the valuation methods for process and auxiliary equipment may be different. It is also useful to isolate in a separate group obsolete decommissioned machinery and equipment for which exact functional substitutes are no longer available. In addition, it would be practical to separately analyze the equipment yet to be installed, whose valuation is not conditioned by the existing use.

Our experts pay much attention to analyzing the market for the subject equipment. The market for machinery, equipment and vehicles is very structured. Virtually each machinery group has its own commodity market sector, and the number of these sectors proves to be much larger than, for instance, on the real estate market. Furthermore, market characteristics vary from sector to sector. Many types of widely used equipment (cars, building equipment, computers, consumer and office equipment, versatile machine tools) are characterized by a universal market. On the other hand, the market for special and unique equipment is generally rather narrow. A significant part of special equipment is custom made and does not have an open market.

Our experience shows that the appraisers’ specialization by items of equipment valued plays a critical role. Therefore, our appraisers of machinery, equipment and vehicles not only have adequate training in finance, economics and specialized valuation education, but also possess engineering knowledge in the subject field, i.e. in machinery construction, design, production technology and operating rules.
